Paul McGarr is a Socialist historian, author, political activist and member of the SWP and Respect. He works as a secondary school maths teacher.

Political career

McGarr has been a longtime Socialist/Marxist activist and in September 2004 he stood on behalf of Respect in the Council by-election for the Tower Hamlets Millwall ward, where he came second to the Conservative Party with 26.69% of the vote.

Works

McGarr has written numerous articles for socialist publications; his catalog of books includes:
  • Marxism and the Great French Revolution (1989)
  • Mozart (Overture to Revolution) (2001)
  • Steven Jay Gould Reader: The Richness of Life (2006)
